Travellers to Bangladesh must hold an undamaged passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of entry and two blank pages.
Citizens of most countries require a visa to visit Bangladesh, including travellers from Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and EU member states.
Citizens of Australia, Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, China, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Oman, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Qatar, the UAE, the United States, the United Kingdom and selected European countries may be eligible for a visa on arrival at the discretion of the immigration authorities. As eligibility and conditions can change, travellers are strongly advised to apply for a visa in advance whenever possible.
Visa on arrival for Bangladesh typically costs around US$50. Fees for other visa types vary depending on the traveller's nationality.
Visa on arrival is usually issued for 15 to 30 days.
Single-entry visas obtained in advance may be valid for 15, 30 or 90 days, depending on nationality and the purpose of travel.
Transit visas are available for up to 72 hours, or until the next available flight, upon request from the airline. The fee is US$20 (or equivalent), payable locally.
